From our sea front guest house to our private suites, Mèlisses knows how to seduce you with its eclectic style, featuring exquisite decor mixed with one of a kind Cycladic pieces.
Philosphy
The name Mèlisses (in Greek “bees”) is inspired by the busy bees that typically distinguish the landscape of the island, in the proximity of the sea. At Mèlisses, everything is aimed to enhance the culture and beauty of Andros’ territory. The house, realised by the best team of landscape designers and architects, completely respects the local flora and fauna by using local plants and rough stones, creating a continuous connection with the environment, almost disappearing from human sight.
Your host
Mèlisses’ host and workshop manager Allegra Pomilio is Italian, but deeply fond of Hellenic culture and traditions. She has been working in the hospitality and gastronomy field for many years. She assisted and worked with the French food blogger Mimi Thorisson, hosting many workshops together and honed her skills studying at the Alain Ducasse Academy, as well as attending many prestigious Italian chef’s classes. She’s always looking for the best way to combine simply cooked homemade food served with beautifully displayed ingredients, paying a particular attention to the presentation of the dishes and to the “art de la table” all accompanied by the best wines and refreshments.
Living between Italy and Greece; her passion for food, travelling and lifestyle found perfect balance at Mèlisses, where she prepares everyday unique breakfast and hosts together with other guest personalities, intimate retreats and workshops aiming to discover the island of Andros, each time under a different perspective. Make sure not to miss our very special retreats! Each meal will take the form of an outdoor feast, savouring Mediterranean flavours and atmosphere.
The property of Mèlisses
The accommodation has a panoramic view that guarantees beautiful sunsets, with all the rooms looking over the magnificent sea. The property boasts two different salt water infinity pools, from where you can see the island of Ghiaros glimmering in the distance. Anytime is a good time to relax and have a dip in the fresh waters of our pools. Mèlisses is surrounded by a variety of fruit trees, along with local fresh herbs and spices. With our vegetable garden, full of tomatoes from Santorini, local varieties of zucchini, and onions – our ingredients are picked freshly daily. These are all to be enjoyed in our homemade dishes and rich breakfasts served by the pool.
The property is completely isolated with its private one hectare land on the sea. All around the house there is quietness and peace, complimented by the sea slowly crashing against the rocks down at the beach and sometimes the sound of little lambs and goats walking around freely. From Mèlisses you can see the clearest sky, completely dark at night, only brightened by a full moon and stars.
Enjoy an early morning swim, Mèlisses has its private access to the sea.
All you have to do is walk down the property and jump in the crystal waters of the bay. During your stay we will provide you fins and snorkelling gear in order to allow you to have the best experience possible, also underwater.
Indoor space
Enjoy spending time in our open space kitchen-living room. Meet us every morning for our breakfast ritual, carefully displayed on our beautiful wooden table. Imagine having a cup of tea while admiring the Aegean sea, being just a few steps away from our beautiful infinity pool. Every detail of the room has been carefully designed; the old marble balcony has been repurposed into our beautiful kitchen counter, Thonet chairs and stools together with vintage objects from Italy and France embellish the room, along with antique furniture from some of the most refined Greek mansions.
Every wall of the house is adorned with unique pieces of art, from Mimmo Jodice to Armin Linke, including old botanical prints and vintage photos of Greece in the old days. The light and fresh tones of the house, confer Mèlisses’ environment a soothing and relaxing atmosphere, exactly what we love!
Accomodation
At Mèlisses, all bedrooms reveal a sea view and benefit from natural light swathing in, throughout the day. All accommodation is decorated with delicate and luxurious taste, mixing together antique Cycladic furniture with French and Italian vintage items and objects. All rooms are furnished with comfortable French mattresses, Italian made linens, soft towels and locally made organic bathroom amenities.
The Coral apartment
The Coral apartment is our fully independent cottage overlooking the Aegean sea. It boasts of a spacious outdoor patio, with sun beds, shower as well as bbq area. Its private saltwater swimming pool reveals the most majestic view over the bay. The accommodation offers a master bedroom and a second bedroom equipped with bunk bed, one bathroom, living room and fully equipped indoor kitchen. Thanks to its location, a few meters below the main house building, it provides a more private experience.
Private swimming pool
Your exclusive saltwater swimming pool is made with the highest quality finishings and coated with quartz powder, in order to perfectly replicate the natural shades of the sea and blend in with its surroundings. It is completely private and for the apartment’s personal use.
Indoor space
The apartment is fully furnished with sea view living room and kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with induction stove, oven, fridge, coffee machine and cooking tools. The seating area is comfortable and everything is decorated with pieces of antique furniture combined with light and relaxing tones.
Master bedroom
This bright bedroom is adorned with an antique wooden bed, vintage English prints and beautiful finds from the sea. Quiet and with a relaxing atmosphere, no details are left to the case; the best quality French mattress, Italian pillows, precious cotton linens and soft sponge towels, are all at your full disposal.
Family Friendly
The second bedroom of the apartment is furnished with comfortable and customisable bunk bed for both adults and children. Bed rails and high chair can also be booked in advance.
Cycladic style bathroom
The beautiful Cycladic style bathroom is decorated with Andros’ typical grey stone floors, an old Greek marble sink, silver finish taps and a white concrete shower with a selection of locally made scented soaps, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

The sea urchin suite
Our beautiful Sea Urchin suite is a sea view double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and an outdoor kitchenette with double plug-in electric stove, fridge and bbq area under a shaded pergola. The suite offers a spacious bedroom decorated with Cycladic antique furniture and can accommodate up to two adults. Its comfortable open plan bathroom and king size bed, make it one of our favourite rooms. Located at the main house level, it is just a few steps away from our saltwater infinity pool and enticing lounge area.
Antique furniture
The whole room is decorated with beautiful vintage and antique finds from all over Europe. The old wooden closet sits proudly in the room, together with the beautiful bed, next to the English old botanical prints, Italian nightstands and brass lamps.
Spacious bedroom
A large bedroom in white and light blue tones offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. With no details left to the case; the best quality French mattress, Italian pillows, precious cotton linens and soft sponge towels, all at your full disposal.
Cycladic style bathroom
This beautiful open plan bathroom is decorated with Andros’ typical grey stone floors, an old Greek marble sink, silver finish taps and a white concrete shower with a selection of locally made scented soaps, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
Outdoor kitchen and barbecue
The room has access to a private annex with small outdoor kitchen, (plug in electric stove/fridge/kitchen utensils) stone barbecue, wooden table and chairs underneath the shade of a large pergola.

Located at the main house level, the suite is just a few steps away from the saltwater infinity pool and an outdoor lounge area. Our pools are made with the highest quality finishings and coated with quartz powder, in order to perfectly replicate the natural shades of the sea and blend in with its surroundings.

The red mullet suite
Our beautiful Red Mullet suite is a spacious master bedroom with ensuite bathroom offering the most intimate and peaceful atmosphere furthest away from the main house. The suite is embellished with an eclectic mix of modern and old finds. Its private pergola with outdoor kitchenette, double plug-in electric stove, fridge, barbecue and sitting area guarantees a stunning sea view while enjoying al fresco meals near our vegetable garden. It can’t get any closer to the sea than with this suite!
Antique furniture
The whole room is decorated with beautiful vintage and antique finds from all over Europe. The hand carved wooden bed from France next to the Italian nightstands with copper lamps and the majestic closet from Turin complete the charming appeal of the room with high ceiling.

The oyster rooms
The Oyster rooms are two beautiful identical master bedrooms that are interconnected with a shared bathroom. Dominant Cycladic style of rooms, in fresh bright tones, they are an ideal accommodation for a family or a group of friends. The rooms are located at the main house level, just a few steps away from our saltwater infinity pool and enticing lounge area.
Antique furniture
Both rooms are adorned with vintage and antique finds from all over Europe. White washed concrete closets and beds, reflect the Cycladic traditions, and precious Italian ceramic and marble lamps beautifully decorate the rooms.

The position
Andros is the first Cycladic Island that you encounter coming from Athens, and it is certainly one of the least crowded and most varied. It only takes a two hour boat trip from Athens to reach the island, and the harbour of Rafina is only 20 minutes away from the international airport of Athens.
Ancient monasteries, old villages and Isolated beaches are scattered along the coast all over the island; archeological rests from the Byzantinan period to the Hellenic are still today very well visible.
